<p>Living and working in the Middle East can be an exciting experience particularly when patients present with unusual and challenging wounds that may never be encountered in most European countries. Dog and cat bites are common in most countries and they can be a cause of concern, particularly if there is a threat of infection or rabies. However, a bite or injury from a camel or a snake can be rare and can prove difficult for healthcare professionals to treat. In this article the author discusses the care given to two patients with unusual animal bite injuries that were seen at a hospital in Abu Dhabi. It will also provide an overview of the concerns that bite wounds can raise.</p>
