<p>Over the last decade, I have observed the emergence of key opinion leaders (KOLs) and interprofessional teams striving to improve woundcare practice in the Gulf States. There is a rapidly growing interest in chronic wound management as healthcare providers begin to recognize that the region has the highest prevalence of diabetes in the world, which is rising at an exponential rate and is a major concern as there is a lack of suitably qualified clinicians to provide care.</p>
